We have a rather huge change to make to the opening scheduled to occur on the 16th, so please read this journal closely if you were planning on making a MYO wyngling at that time!
As this group has grown, it’s no big secret the toughest part of this growth has always been MYO Approvals. As a semi-open species that’s free to everyone, especially one that has grown in popularity as quickly as we have, the largest workload has quickly skyrocketed to always be the number of new members wanting to come in.
We have tried numerous ways to try to continue both being a welcoming group to all, while also managing that workload in ways that made it manageable to both staff and members. We have expanded our staff size as quickly and comfortably as we could while ensuring each new moderator has plenty of time to get comfortable and learn the ropes. We have limited openings so we don’t have 20+ MYO approvals (alone, not counting adult approvals, bred and purchased wyngling approvals, and other staff duties that must be done daily) per day. We had limited free slots to two, limited the approval days, and many other tactics, all to limit the amount of moderation needed on a daily basis.
Unfortunately, all these steps have done little more than put a bandaid on a more serious problem we knew would have to be properly addressed eventually. Now, it must be addressed sooner rather than later.
Wyngro is now a Closed Species.
Starting from the 16th, any member with an open slot will be able to make their MYO. Approvals will no longer close. So if you have a slot open, you can make an MYO any day you'd like after the 16th!
For now the purchasing of MYO Tickets is unavailable to ensure a slightly quieter baby boom on the 16th (and to give Nes a bit less work on her time off). Please be patient, as they will be made available again when we are able and ready for it!
Flash Passes are for the future going to be null and void since the group is going to be permanently open: if you have one, use it quickly before they cease to have any purpose at all!
To all current members: your MYO slots are unaffected by this change. If you had 2 free slots, those are now considered bought and paid for, you still have your 2 slots. If you had 79 bought slots before this journal post, you still have 79 slots. (And god have mercy on your soul with that many children)
To all non members: We are extremely sorry to have to spring this upon you all so close to the 16th. We had hoped to have many more openings to allow new members in for free, but unfortunately sometimes things do not go according to plan. Fortunately, with the rise in popularity of Evolving Species, there are many more groups available on DA that are indeed free to enter and open to new members! We hope if you cannot find a home here, you find one in many of the up-and-coming groups that are still small enough to handle your enthusiasm and love!
And to those who are patient, our sporadic Flash Pass Raffles will in the future just be straight-up MYO Ticket Raffles! This will allow us to continue to give to those who want to join for free, while keeping the number manageable for our mod team!
We will be spending today editing the affected group journals/website information/etc to properly reflect this change from a semi-open species to a closed one, and if you see any places that need edits, feel free to let us know!

Anatomy Leniency
In other news, we will also be stepping back from moderating anatomy so intensely. This is still on the works and more visual aid will eventually come to explain Wyngro anatomy in more detail, but for now, the “Same Size Limb upgrade” has been removed and is no longer required for this anatomy to be drawn.
In Closing
We sincerely hope that by taking this step, we can shift gears to really focus more on taking the group forward instead of spending so much of our time just worrying about openings, setting up dates for openings, recovering from openings, etc.
Instead, we hope to spend more time on things both the staff and members enjoy, like new NPCs, lore reveals, and fun events to participate in! Trying to expand our world and lore for everyone to enjoy has always been our main goal, and with this new step in place, we’re excited to finally move in that direction.
FAQs
What if I have unused MYO slots?
On the 16th, the group will permanently open for all members with unused MYO slots. If you have unused MYO slots, or donate your wynglings to free up a slot, you can get them approved any day, any time now.
What about breeding slots?
Breeding is still currently CLOSED and an announcement about the new breeding revamp will be posted separately, so please be patience for that!
Can we go hog wild with anatomy now?
No. It just means you can have same sized limbs without needing the upgrade now. This is true for adult approvals as well.
Please do your best to follow the anatomy as best you can, however. We're simply just saying we're loosening up a bit.
Can Corgi legs be a thing now???
NO.
Now that the same sized limbs upgrade is gone, would bipeds be able to fly w/ arm wings without it?
Yes.
Can members who have un-approved eggs gift them to non-members?
Yes! But this does not give them MYO slots. It merely allows them to get this one egg approved as a new wyngling. Please help your new member friends learn the rules of approval so they can understand the group better!
